The Process

I get a lot of emails asking me how I get customers websites onto the first page of Google. So I am writing this to explain how it’s done. I also get a lot of emails from my customers asking me what I am doing with their website and can I update them on the progress.

The following article is broken up into numbered points in order to let customers know the exact stage I am up to in the promotion of their websites…

We email the customer and ask them for the address of the website they want us to promote. We also ask for a preliminary set of keywords to target.

The next (and most important) step is the keyword research. Any website that intends to make a profit from the Internet needs to base their online marketing around a well-optimized set of keywords. It well worth the effort to get this right. We use Wordtracker (the most realistic and accurate keyword tool) to search for the best keywords for your website to target.

Next we determine the strength of the customers website in terms of SEO. This step is often overlooked by many SEO services because it is repetitive and time consuming. We analyze 12 critical data metrics to give an overall strength of you website from the search engine point of view. We then compare the strength of your website compared to the strength of your competitors websites. This helps us to determine whether it is financially viable for you to target certain keywords or whether it is better to target alternative keywords.

When we have gathered the keyword results and analyzed the strength of the website we will email the customer with our recommendations. We then work along with the customer to choose a realistic set of keywords to target.

Next step is writing. We use the keywords as the subject of a 300-400 word article. We write a variety of headlines, find appropriate graphics, and include keywords in the anchor text.

Now we start submitting the article around the web and collecting backlinks for your website. At this point we get a lot of emails from our customers asking us to update them on our progress. Unfortunately there is never much to report except that we are collecting backlinks. This is where customers need to be patient. This step can take 2 months before you notice any significant movement in your rankings and it can take up to six months if your website is very new. There is nothing that we can do to speed up the process.

At the end of each month we will send a report showing how your website is ranking in Google for your keyword. When you website reaches the first page of Google for one of your keywords we have completed our work on your site.

Reporting

At the end of each month we send a report to our customers that shows the current ranking of their website for their keywords in Google. Here is an example of the reports we send our customers.

We do most of our work by hand and we do not have automation software to compile additional reports for you. So if you are looking for additional reports of how/where/why/who/when we do our work they will not be available, sorry.
